With each new year comes the inevitable...New Year's resolutions. As we bound into January 2018 with all the enthusiasm and best will in the world, statistically more than half of our resolutions will fall sadly by the wayside.
We'd all like to lose a few extra pounds, maybe join a yoga class, or be that spritely morning person who awakes with pleasure rather than sheer disdain to the sound of the alarm, so here's a twist on the mundane and an all the more pleasurable set of diamond jewellery resolutions that are definitely worth making and keeping this new year.
1. Last on, first off
Our absolute number one resolution: always make sure your jewellery is the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
There's simply nothing better than adding the finishing touches to your outfit with exquisite jewellery and watching everything come together, but there's a sensible reason for following this rule too: Sparkle. Diamonds attract oil and lotions, makeup, perfume and hair products can all dull the sparkle of your diamonds. Even the oil from your fingertips can dull a diamond, so we recommend giving your stones a gentle buff with a diamond polishing cloth once you've put them on.
2. Clean regularly
One of life's essentials, and diamond jewellery is certainly no exception. Jewels are particularly susceptible to chemical damage from every day substances ranging from household cleaners and chlorine to fruit juices. Prevention is best, but not always entirely practical. We recommend gently cleaning your diamond jewellery once every couple of weeks or after any situation where it has come into contact with those pesky chemicals.
3. Try something new
As Coco Chanel once said, "In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different." It's easy to fall into a comfort zone and reach for the same pair of classic earrings, but once upon a time those earrings were something new - they just worked so well they became a staple. How about finding another piece you love just as much in 2018? Trying something new and stepping outside your comfort zone is usually followed by a "Why didn't I do this sooner?", so what are you waiting for? Try those jewels on, you might just love them (in fact, you probably will.)!
If you're looking for a little extra sparkle, but don't want to buy a new piece of jewellery, earring jackets are perfect for updating an existing pair of studs. They're becoming increasingly popular with silver, gold and platinum offerings from a variety of retailers, or you can view our range of diamond set earring jackets here.
